Pine straw and mulch use and application

Picture
Applying and using organic materials to mulch around trees, flower beds, and shrubs adds helpful nutrients to the soil along with helping to prevent weed from growing. The adding of pine straw and mulch also helps to keep the soil warm and moist. This allows the plants, trees, and shrubs to grow and thrive with help from the benefits of using pine straw and mulch.

There are additional benefits of using this type of mulch, but why is such material to use. Anywhere that there are pine trees there is also pine straw and mulch that is freely available. Because of this it also can be pretty inexpensive to purchase making it not only friendly for the plant life but the budget as well.
Pine straw and mulch has a number of benefits, one of the most often reasons it is loved is because of the love that acid loving plants have for it. The pine needles contain an acid that creates ideal soil conditions for plants to thrive. Many even find that there is a benefit of the pine straw helping to add acidify alkaline. Some will debate this benefit depending on the location you are in and other dependencies, but there are benefits that go beyond the beautiful look of the ground covering.

Often gardeners would complain about the mess that was below and around their pine trees. Many even complained that it was unsightly, but when reviewing the benefits and laying the pine straw they discovered the many benefits of these power needles. Using these power needles for mulch also poses as an effective method to use to protect during the winter months. Especially when the pine straw is placed around the base of the trees and scrubs along with in the flower beds. It protects the plants from wind, frost, and other extreme elements at the base of the greenery where it needs protection the most.

Another benefit of using pine straw and mulch is the method of application. This material is very easy to install and can be done pretty quickly. During the application, the pine straw is dropped on the ground in the desired location. It is really that easy to add to the landscaping of any outside space. Adding the mulch not only has benefits for the greenery, but it looks pretty nice as well.

One of the coolest things about pine mulch is it truly is just the dropped needles from the dry foliage of a certain type of pine tree. It is then gathered, processed and then baled. The bales come in 15 to 40 pound qualities. They are available to be purchased at different locations or can be harvested from other areas of the country. But if you don’t have access to the pine trees it is easy enough to buy.

Buying the pine straw is often cheaper than other mulching materials. Then when bought in bulk can even be more cost effective than other types of mulch on the current market. So not only can it benefit the plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees but it is also beneficial for landscaping budgets. Plus it can be more plentiful in certain areas.

Lastly, the total benefits of using pine straw and mulch is that is much lighter than any other landscaping material. Because the material is lighter it allows for water and nutrient to more easily be distributed to the soil and plants after it has been installed. Typically, when wood or bark mulch has been installed the weight of these materials, is great for keeping weeds away but it does prevent water and nutrients from getting down to the soil easily. Using pine straw allows for maximum percolation for everything below the material. It also will help prevent erosion because of the way that it allows the water to be controlled as it runs down the needles on the way down to the soil.

All of the benefits can be explained and reviewed, but when it comes down to it, some people prefer one material over the other for one reason or another. When it comes down to it there are benefits of all, but what works best for your landscaping is the choice you can make.
