Blend seeding application

What can be done to get your lawn out of that rut and transform it into a beautiful lush landscape? While having a lawn service and maintenance schedule is one of the biggest contributors to making this happen there is also another piece of the puzzle that can make a huge difference in the quality of the grass. That is using a blended or mix of seeds. But first, it is important to understand the difference between a blend seed and a mix grass seed. It is always important to consider what type of grass is on the lawn before selecting the seeds for a reseeding application.

A seed blend is a combination of two plus types of the same species or cultivates of grass in one bag. For example, a blended seed application would be having a bag of Vintage and Victa. They are both types of bluegrass grass seeds and are blended together for the application. Using a mixed type of seed would be when two or more types of seeds are together for the application. An example of a mixed type of grass seed would ryegrass and bluegrass are used in the same application.

It can be useful to know what type of grass is in the lawn when making a decision to reseed. To make a decision on the type of grass that is currently on the lawn it is useful to review it with details. It there is mostly one type of grass in the lawn then a good selection to buy for reseeding would be a blend type seeds. This will allow for a blend seeding application to take place. If reviewing the grass it appears that there are many types of seeds it is best to go with a mix. It will best match what is currently in the lawn and will allow the seed to thrive along with the other grass. Trying to match the type of grass that is currently in the lawn gives the seeds in the reseeding application the best chances possible.

Whether you have a lawn of grass or you are starting a lawn from soil up, then it is time to make a decision of what type of lawn that you are looking for. With so many types of grass on the market, it can be difficult to make a decision without knowing the difference between the blends and mixes. Knowing what the difference between just the different species is also helpful. For example, Ryegrass is wonderful for recuperative lawns. This type of grass grows very slowly and is not good to fill in bare spots with. It also does not heat and drought resistant. That is something to keep in mind. Then there is a type called Tall fescue. It is a type of grass that can handle some heat and will last through a drought, but really takes some time to establish good roots, Another type of seed is a Bluegrass grass is completely a different type of grass. It fills in bare areas well and establishes easily, but it is not heat and drought resistant. The list can go on for some time, but the knowledge is about how seeds work together. That’s why the blends and mixes of seeds have been created. In the lawn services industry using a blend seeding application can make a huge difference in the quality of lawn that the client is receiving. Using two or even three of different blends or mixes in one lawn can the best choice.

Along with selecting what type of seed to use, whether a blend of mix there is no other thing to consider about grass seed. It is the time that it takes to germinate. Many don't realize that this varies as well. Using a blend of seeds allows for some for the seeds to start growing quickly to fill in and the other species will slowly germinate on a slower schedule. This allows for different types of grass to do their own job when the time comes. Filling in is one job the other job is to stay alive during the hot summer months. Having different types of grass allows for the appearance of the lawn to remain stunning drying each season.

Using a blend seeding application uses a mix of grasses that will cover a majority of situations that grass can encounter allowing it to thrive. It prepares and sets the lawn up for looking great all the time.
